Classical Ballet (ACB – The Australian Conservatorie of Ballet)

Classical ballet is a traditional, formal style of ballet that adheres to strong ballet technique. It is known for its aesthetics and rigorous technique (such as pointe work, turn out of the legs legs, and high extensions), its flowing, precise movements and its ethereal qualities. Ballet technique is the foundational principles of body movement and form used in ballet, jazz, lyrical & contemporary. Students typically learn ballet terminology and the pronunciation, meaning, and precise body form and movement associated with each term.

Jazz

With a technique-based focus, students will work on turns, kicks, jumps and leaps, each week adding to their large dance vocabulary. Our primary focus is creating strong jazz dance foundations, in a fun and safe environment. Our approach builds strong technique, poise, self confidence & fantastic student outcomes. Classes incorporate a range of warm-up exercises, stretching, strengthening and flexibility exercises. Choreography, while current and up to date, will always be age-appropriate.

Lyrical

Lyrical  is a style of dance created from the fusion of ballet, jazz & contemporary dance techniques. Lyrical dancing is performed to music with lyrics to inspire movements to express strong emotions the choreographer feels from the lyrics in the chosen song. Lyrical dancing focuses on the expression of strong emotion, the style concentrates more on individual approach and expressiveness than the precision of the dancer’s movements.
